Kathy Stokes
Director, Fraud Prevention Programs, AARP
Kathy Stokes is a nationally recognized leader in fraud targeting consumers. As Director of Fraud Prevention Programs with AARP, Kathy leads AARP’s social mission work to educate older adults on the risks that fraud represents to their financial security. She and her team have vastly expanded the AARP Fraud Watch Network’s scope and impact, including creating a new victim support program and leading an effort to transform how our country addresses fraud. Kathy is an advisor to the board of the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators and to a committee of the North American Securities Administrators Association. She also currently serves on a committee of a scams advisory group convened by the FTC and is engaged with the Federal Reserve’s Work Group on Scam Information Sharing. Kathy has a master’s in American Government from The Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh in Rhetoric and Communication.
